Son got an interview. We are in CA( Bay Area)

Did you ever email your AO and did you get a response? My daughter just sent a quick thank you email, stated Stanford is still her number 1 choice and will send update once ready. So little time to in between to really have major accomplishments…

Did he get an interview before the decision in November?

No, he did not email the AO. His plan was to only send in the standard update form because his understanding is that they don’t want anything else.

No, he did not receive an interview in the EA round either.

When I asked the AO if they’d accept supplemental recommendation letters and LOCIs, they said yes. But when I did send one, they told that it wouldn’t be added to my application. Essentially meaning that it is not required, though it was traditionally accepted.

Oh well, that’s interesting. I got one, and I’m from India.

My son received interviews from some schools, but not others. I know that alumni availability is the reason for some schools. We will just have to wait and see. Based on what I’ve read on different threads here, it is rarely a sign that you will be rejected if you don’t get one.

Yes, getting an interview might be good at the moment, but if it goes bad its only going to reflect worse on one’s application. Since he wanted an interview and he didn’t get one, it would not reflect bad on his application in any way.

My daughter is a current Stanford student, class of 2023. We are in Dallas. She was not offered an interview after applying RD. She was admitted. I have frequently seen that not getting an interview for Stanford has no correlation to your likelihood of admission.

Thank you, thank you so much. Really appreciate this. I will show this it to my son . We really thought we were rejected outright.Your message will definitely reinstill some hope and give some solace to others too who are in the same boat like us.
