Stanford CS vs Princeton EE

Dear All,

I got two admissions, from Stanford CS and Princeton EE respectively. Both provide full financial support. It's really hard to choose between these two programs. Any suggestions are highly appreciated!

Stanford CS, no question

meteman, could you let me know why?

Stanford is around #1 or #2 in CS, while Princeton is like i think somehwere in the top 10 for EE but not that great. Plus Stanford is near Silicon Valley and has contact with great CS companies.

i see. Thanks a lot, meteman

But when it comes down to it, which do you like more EE or CS? That should determine which one you should go to, if you like both equally I would recommend Stanford

actually, i have background in both. besides, there is much overlap between CS and EE. so i have no special preference

You should choose between the two based on the research that interest you. Which has more professors that you see yourself probably working with? How difficult would it be to join their group?

Stanford ftw.

There’s a bias on CC in favor of Stanford.

Not only that, but the posters are not giving the reasons why they recommend Stanford. It would be nice if they stated their reasoning. For example:

"Choose Stanford because of X, Y, Z. Princeton is not strong in X, Y, Z, but it’s strengths are in Θ,

It’s not a question of bias when you’re comparing a small department ranked 10th in EE to a large, well-funded department tied for 1st in CS (with enormous industry and startup ties)
