Stanford defeats USC

24-23. At USC.
Enough said.
Maybe your program may actually become something.

That game was so freaking ridiculous. One of the biggest upsets in California football history.

wow this is amazing. anytime usc gets beat i'm happy

Great stuff. Thought USC was overrated...

So fabulous. Wish I had gone to the game on this beautiful fall day in LA.
Go Cardinal! And beat TCU!

:) :) :) :) :)

what would Robert Hutchins say?

“The death of democracy is not likely to be an assassination from ambush. It will be a slow extinction from apathy, indifference, and undernourishment.”

"go cardinals"

ABSOLUTELY GREAT GAME!!!

I was with my dorm in San Francisco for the traditional scavenger hunt, and we were having dinner in a restaurant that has TVs in the bar section. We all (my dorm + another dorm or two) crowded into the bar to watch the last 8 minutes of the game. It was SO much fun to be with all those people to see such an exciting game!!!!! There was so much screaming and hugging in the restaurant and all the way back to the train station!!

I'm still excited, in case you can't tell :)

I heard there was a party celebrating this in the stadium last night

Nope, not the stadium - we were near Maples Pavilion.

http://daily.stanford.edu/article/2007/10/5/postgameCelebrationsRockCampus

The Band went nuts. We must have played ARN 10 or 15 times through at the end. And after the last touchdown, a few people around me weren't even playing because they were too busy hugging each other.

I still can't believe it.

One of the greatest upsets ever.

Thank God. I hate going to school with the USC football players and am glad they get to be put in their place once in a while with us lesser mortals. Hoepfully their strutting will stop sometime soon.

Edit to the news article I posted earlier - the turnout at the impromptu rally after the game was more like 1,500! Awesome.

While Stanford was beating U$C at the LA Coliseum, 80,000 UCLA and Notre Dame fans were cheering on Stanford over at the Rose Bowl. Several times, when partial scores of the U$C game were posted on the Rose Bowl jumbotron, people in the crowd chanted "Lets go Stanford". When the final score was posted showing that Stanford won, it was the loudest cheer of the entire game.

USC players and Pete Carroll were so arrogant, they forgot how to lose...(i.e. shake the hands of the opposing team players)

I'm more worried about the Big Game...but, USC didn't look like they took Stanfurd seriously and suffered the consequence.

Awesome article, FarmDad; it makes me even more proud of my school.

loved the article. :) esp because I am not fond of USC fan. They're too... hardcore and arrogant.

Last Saturday was a terrific day for football...Stanford's victory was almost as important as ours in the hearts of this student body. We're just hoping we can pull off the same magic when USC comes to visit us...
