Allright, I have been wondering about this for a long time... Who around here actually loves Stanford (let's not think too crazy about this, but still). Not for the name, that's a cop-out. I have been infatuated with the place since I was in the 5th grade, and many here seem to dream about Stanford, but why? For me, it's that I can turn any which way and find an expert in any field. And the campus is george-us (that's right, I said it). And I absolutley love the people there. Even when I email my summer professor, he seems genuinley happy to hear from me. I want to go there, double major, double minor, and coterm. So yeah, I kniz... But anyways, back to the point, why do you, and what is the degree of your "Dream of JSJU." But hey, there's always Berkeley (smiles, but shudders).

BTW:
SAT 1540
APUSH 5
GPA 4.8
Summer at Stanford
400 hrs comm service
And SO MANY EC's that I will have trouble deciding on what to put on those 8 or so blanks on the Stanford (or any other) app.

the stuff you listed there sounds fantastic. the ECs are important, stanford is one to stress depth over breadth. so saying you have more than 8 isnt saying much (i do too).

oh yea i sweat stanford mad hard. im from NJ, saw it while visiting relatives in middle school, and its just the awesomest place ever. its simply awesome at everything, especially engineering and business, the two fields im considering. plus its got cool liberal artsy people (diversity of personality you wont find at places like MIT), a great climate, and a sexy campus. too bad im from NJ

I love Stanford because it combines awesome academcis with awesome weather :) And, having grown up on the East Coast, westerns are so much more friendly!

I am a Taiwanese kid who grew up in the Philippines and recently moved to California. I now go to a school filled with idiots whose life goal is either to inherit their parent's wealth, or to be firefighters (not a bad source of income I've heard...) I had never even heard of Stanford until the last two years. I went to a summer program at Stanford and fell in love with the place. I love the campus, the people, the professors, and general atmosphere. The six weeks I spent there were the best weeks ever, each better than the last. The students there are people who really want to excel in life. They are fierce competitors, yet they are cool enough to help their counterparts out. Stanford is a really warm place and anyone you meet in the campus is willing to help you out with your Quantum Mechnics homework. Stanford is a place I'd like to study at.

Yeah I have to second the "Cali rocks". I'm from Pennsylvania, and only about a year ago I wasn't considering any schools in California. Somehow by now I've found 4 there and ditched all the ones in the other, crappier states. ;)
