Stanford EA

if he has a large class size, meaning 500+, forget it, i dont see him in stanford, not even with a perfect score. if its a small school with about 100 ppl, i stick to my ~30%

SV says that TJHSST has around 1800 people, so average by graduation per year is around 450 or so. I think he doesn't have great chances but it's not impossible for him to get accepted I'd say.

lol SV, hahahah, good one MZ. lets assuem 10% of 450, thats still low for ivies. i'd chance him at ~15%

3.81 averages out to our equiv of about rank 20 or so. It's pretty hard I'd say.

but our 20 rank is like their 40-50.

but our 20 rank is like their 40-50.

but our 20 is like their 40-50.

Wouldn't it be more like our 20 is like their 10? We have more fillers inbetween.

sry about that triple post...
and i meant like at their school 10% would be like 45, while at our school 10%would be like 80, sry.

So if he's like 20 at our school, he should be like 10 at his?

about...although any top 10 from our school would be valedictorian at 80% of the place elsewhere

That is true. We're screwed up.

yea well, we also send 2-3 to harvard, twice that number to duke, and select few to other ivies. cant complain.

rofl thats weak...we sent 43 to ivy leagues last year and 10 to comparable schools (mit,caltech,stanford...etc.)

Good for you, but how many of your students dare to take 9 APs a year? Oh wait. That was our number 10 or so.

haha, so true. our top 10 would all replace ur top 10 if we moved there. so dont get me started.

Are you sure it's even 43? How big is your school?

tell us ur school i'll look it up and see if its true. ask how many of ur top 10s are taking more than 6 aps in any given year. our average gpa pwns urs

Sounds like some childish rivalry to me.

TJHSST is known by name by most adcoms, and certainly by regional reps. We are considered contemporary rivals with schools like Stuyvesant. There are indeed about 450 in each class graduating. About a third usually go to UVA, and a significant number go to top tier schools.

The GPA alone is tricky; our school weights only for AP/post-AP classes, and these get only 0.5 extra. Nobody that I've heard of has graduated with 4.2 or above. Also, our school explains to colleges that that our normal classes are equivalent to an honors class elsewhere.
