Stanford: Envelopes

For Stanford, I know they require 9 in. X 12 in. envelopes for teacher recommendations and secondary school reports.

Do other top colleges (Ivy League, MIT, Caltech, UChicago, etc.) also require 9 X 12 envelopes? If so, which ones do? If not, are bigger envelopes preferred anyway? Would regular 4.125 X 9.5 envelopes look "unprofessional"?

Thanks!

Yearly, the topic of Stanford’s large envelope request comes up. They seem to be the only ones who request that. I guess their office workers can’t take the time to unfold letters before scanning them… LOL

Yes, Staford does like to be special. They’re also the only school I know of where you have to print special mailing labels.

Wait, if my school sends it with the transcript, is that okay?

I’m not sure at all how my school does it (and im pretty sure it is already sent)
