My home-schooled daughter just got into her dream school, Stanford EPGY High School!!!!!!!! Our uncle is a Stanford prof, so she gets to visit him during the summer sessions at Stanford.

Congrats! What is it? lol

Stanford's Education Program for Gifted Youth High School

Sweet. Sounds like a good school.

Congratulations! What classes is she taking?

Congratulations! We have home-schooled our daughter the past 3 years with lots of EPGY and CTY classes and seriously considered the new EPGY High School. Our daughter really connected with both her online classmates and her peers at the residential summer programs. It looks like it should be a great program!

Chaos, do you mean what classes is she taking now, or will be taking at the school?

What classes she will be taking at the school. She will be a full time student, yes?

Next year (in 10th grade) she will probably take: AP Language and Composition, Honors Geometry (unlike her 12 year old sister, she is on the normal math track, but took Alg II before Geometry) AP World History (she is taking AP US History this year in 9th, getting straight A's, and having a blast), AP Biology, Grammar, Rhetoric and Argumentation, and third year German from Oklahoma State University.

Chaos, I think you were the student who was going to finish AP Calculus BC at 14. My 12 year old daughter is on that exact same track. Congratulations to you.

Yes, she will be a full time student.

Is the financial aid substantial? I heard it's not that good..? It costs about 13,000, right?

We have not heard about financial aid yet.

It is $12,000 a year

Persist, where did you hear the FA wasn't very good?

I applied for 3 classes at the EPGY OHS and i got in. out of 7,500 dollars, i only have to pay 1,500, so FA isnt that bad. I'm gonna be a sophomore next year and I am going to take :AP Chemistry, AP Calculus AB, and Chinese.

Ryanone: I will most likely meet your daughter this summer. I'm going to sessions A and B.

congrats!!! I did an online course from EPGY once and it was pretty good. :) may ur daughter have plenty of intellectual stimulation in the months to come! ^_^

Congratulations to the new students. My son is in the pioneer EPGY OHS class this year.

By the way, the financial aid is great. Do apply if you think the program might be a good fit.
