Stanford EPGY Waitlist?

Hi everyone,

I just got an email from Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes. It said "...your application was excellent, and we congratulate you for your fine accomplishments."
I was like "YAAAYYY!!"

Then they wrote: "Unfortunately, we are not able to admit you at this time."
I was like "NOOOOOO!!!"

And then... "However, as a result of the merits of your application, we have placed you on the waiting list."
Now I don't know how I should react.

Anyone else get waitlisted/have experienced getting waitlisted at EPGY? My impressions from this forum were that it is not that competitive/prestigious, and my rec. was excellent, my grades are excellent, and my short answers were pretty good too. How large is the waitlist typically? Should I keep my hopes up, or should I look elsewhere?

FYI I applied for the Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology, Investigations in Engineering, and Investigations in Business and Entrepreneurship programs. The email said that there were "many excellent applications, but not enough space to accommodate everyone who was qualified for the program." Is there are new boost in applicants this year? Or has EPGY always been this popular?

Thanks

Hi! I got the same e-mail yesterday! Wish I had any information to share with you but I have the same doubts! Let me know if you find anything out! and good luck! really hope you get in!

I have no idea, but I’m kinda firmiliar with EPGY and I’d say have a Backup, but you’ll prbs get in.But who knows I live ion the Bay Area and Silicon Valley kids are da shiz.XD no joke,so it may/may not be competitive.Sorry I think that response was kinda cruddy ;| But good luck, I like your course choices
;]

Although I’m ehh about Biotech. The stuff they do to animals is bizarre. It’s pretty hard especially to live around SF where biotech emhhh…Genetech…has a big presence D:

I actually got accepted into the program from Decision Making and Leadership as well as Business and Entreprenuership. I unfortunately did not accept my offer admission b/c I got into the Yale Young Global Scholars program.

@Nicolestawal: Will do, I’ll pm you when they notify me of their decision.
@KimberlyLalia: What makes you say I’ll probably get in? How large are waitlists usually?

I dobt it’s competitive.I also don’t thi k it’s that well known.

I too got waitlisted. I don’t think the fact I applied for a ton of FA helped. I’ll let you know if anything happens and good luck!

An update: I got accepted to Investigations in Engineering Session 2E.
I have to decide whether to attend or not by June 6. Worth it? Y/N?

@cjwu382‌ what did the email look like that they sent you? Did it mention any details on the length of the waiting list? And congrats on being accepted. :)

and if you have no other plans, do the program. if you have another option, like research, do that.

@Gorgonzola23‌: Thanks! The email was very brief. It simply said: “Congratulations! I am very pleased to in form you that you have been admitted…etc.”
