Today i got this letter from Stanford offering me to go to this Education Program for gifted Youths
now i was wondering has anyone here ever been to this, if so was the experience worth the price(quite alot a whopping $4200) and how good would this look on a college application (even if i wasn't going to apply there) do you think that this is worth it or would it be better to spend my summer at home doing some medical research(i'm going into pre med in college and my dad is a doctor so i can get some) and studying for Standardized tests?

i'm applying myself. if you'd so solely for college apps, i wouldn't spend the money because it isn't like. that prestigious or anything. but it seems like a REALLY interesting 4 weeks and plus you get to spend those 4 weeks at Stanford. yeahhhh <3 stanford hahah

i went to EPGY last summer and it was GREAT!! best 3 weeks of my life! great, intersting classes (i did intro to aeronautical and aerospace engineering)....really cool TA's....such well rounded, interesting ppl who are smart but really fun to be with....and its not all classes...parties every weekend, youll get to know alot of people, you get to go on field trips etc etc....you pretty much can do whatever you want to from 5 untill 11....you are free to go around campus (beautiful campus)...to the mall....play sports....i would highly reccomend it

You probably wouldn't know my RAs marlgirl since I attended in summer 2005 (any other 05ers here? Terra represent!). I'd have to agree with others. Some of the best three weeks of my life. Really got me motivated to get the drive to get into a good college. But I admit, it is a bit pricey, so its not for everyone but its a good experience and you meet some amazing people. It was $3300 the year I did it.

Again, don't do it to get into college because its not worth it and it won't help much. But do it for the overall learning experience.

In addition to the overall learning experience as mentioned above, there's also something to be said for spending three or four weeks with other students from all over the world, all of whom are just as enthusiastic as you are about your chosen subject.
