So what happens with it? How large is it? How many people usually get accepted off it? How many people have been here at CC?

Hiya. So far looks like no one was rejected after 85 students were picked from the WL, so it’s pretty much whatever the number of the remaining students is.

How many of the 85 are likely to reject their spots?
And if there were 800-850 on the original waitlist (according to some estimates on the other threads)… now there are “only” 715-765 on the extended waitlist.
It’s hard to say what our chances are.

OMG, I hate this so much.

You’re not alone, Mod.

I guess a lot of people will be rejecting their offers. If you browse through CC, you can automatically find a few people who are going to Yale/Amherst/Cornell instead. Also, a lot of people may call back their acceptances if they get into other schools via their waitlists. Princeton has already taken 31 people, while Harvard will be taking around the same number as Stanford.

N.B- I’m on the extended waitlist, so I’m OBVIOUSLY optimistic =D

It’s possible that many will decline. Did anyone decide to take their names off the waitlist because they couldn’t take it anymore?

^ Would anyone strike off their names from the list at a time when they know that the list is being used? I doubt that.

…I’m just curious, though. 85 people were accepted off the waitlist. Does that mean they needed 85 people to reach 1700, or is it that they sent out 85 acceptances expecting a lower yield that’ll help them reach their target? I sure hope it’s the former…

I think it’s the former.

it seems at least some of those who were picked from the list will choose to decline. we (who are still struggling in the list) certainly have chance
best wishes

Here is a link to an article in today’s Stanford Daily. Looks like there is still hope for a few more to be admitted from the waitlist.

I just got my email from a stanford admissions officer about reconsidering my app…

what does this mean?! does this mean i have a really high chance, or not?

some of us had received that mail before the first round of acceptances. Did you receive that too? And could you share your e-mail with us?

I didn’t receive the email before the first round of acceptances…what happened to those who received them in the first round and weren’t accepted?

:/

…they turn into me. I’m still on the waitlist, and still have foolish hope. I’m just wondering why they mailed you so early, given that the deadline for accepting the offer didn’t even end yet. Ah, but good for you though. It would really help if you pasted the letter you were sent over here… helps calm nerves more than anything

I see that on the waitlist response email, the link, which allows us to post additional detail to accept the spot on the waitlist, has an updated deadline. June 1. It had been march something…What is this about? Also, for the last waitlist response, did Stanford wait for the deadline, then evaluate the 600 character responses, or did they choose people as they came in (my guess would be that they would wait for the deadline of submission, and then choose).

It now is only for transfers on the WL. Freshman wl is closed.

I’m guessing that the email is prob the same as the one you got before.

It basically just says that I am one of the few they are still considering and will be reevaluated for admission soon, and wants me to write back with my interest.

You are a waitlisted as a transfer?

me? No, RD.
