Applied for the lawlz
I am guessing there will be about 30 people get accepted for the next fall.
Average across that span is 32.4, so that sounds about right.
Maybe we will get lucky and they’ll go all 2011 crazy and accept 4% of us! :o
Yes!! Hopefully we do!! I wish we all could get 5%!! Because there were no 5% yet so far
Since I applied to Stanford University with 3.1 GPA as Engineering major, I have ADHD. I am also a transfer student from George Mason University to CSUMB. At GMU, I was a conditional student and got about 1.69 GPA, took a year off to have medical care for my concentration and emotional problem and transferred to CSUMB. I always wanted to study at Cali. I received 1.69 GPA and 3.1 GPA,but this does not mean that I did not work hard. I actually want to say that “I was a hard-working student.” If I explain well about my problem, will I have a better chance to get into Stanford?
I am also Asian, well “Korean-Canadian.” I left Korea when I was 11 years old, but I am Canadian citizen.
I applied just to see! I figured that I had to try.
GPA: 4.0 from CC
Major: Psychology
I’m a non-traditional student (28, married).
I wrote a pretty strong essay and have been working in the field that I hope to pursue after education for the past eight years. I worked full-time while attending school full-time and had a pretty rough go getting to where I am today. I dropped out of high school due to taking care of my mom and younger brothers. Her mental illness is what pushed me to continue my schooling and pursue a degree and career in psychology.
I’m really not holding out any hope, but we’ll see!
FWIW, judging by past threads, the few students that Stanford has taken in the pst years have had common themes - they are community college students, or they are military.
is it stupid to say to the admission that I applied to other schools since Stanford is very competitive to get in?
In what context? I can’t see how it would fit in any of the essays.
As far as it being additional info, I don’t see any reason why they need, or care, to know.
For additional information, I mean. I just wanted to be honest. @mjr2013
mjr2013, I recall a couple of years there were no transfers accepted. That must have been before 2008. I am too lazy to look it up.
If I don’t get into stanford I’m planning on trying to transfer! I hear their transfer acceptance rate is very low though
there was a time I was actually dismissed from a university due to I got below 2.0 GPA. I have ADHD, so I do not have good concentration. So, will I most likely have much lower chance to get into Stanford?
Universities know that smart students won’t place all their eggs in one basket, a basket that has a 2% chance of becoming theirs.
That’s why schools use the Common App, to expedite it for them and us.
@googledrone I looked up the Common Data Set back to 1998, and it actually showed them with a higher acceptance rate back then, as high as 10%.
I know some colleges have skipped years, when their matriculation has been higher than expected.
RD undergrad decisions are getting released today, which means that they’ll likely start to look at our applications next week!
@incogneato yeah I think they release transfer decisions May 15th
if i switch a class to pass / fail, is there a chance i will get rescinded (if i get in)? The class is unrelated to my major
@cmf555 I believe you have to contact them and inform them of the change, otherwise you leave yourself open to the possibility of rescindment were you accepted.
