Stanford for internationals

Hi!

I am applying SCEA with Fin Aid AND I am an international!

My SAT scores are avg: 2210

My ECAs are decent, but purely based in research/physics

My grades are good (but not valedictorian standard), mostly because of my school

Essays are pretty good I think

But Am I totally screwed?

regards

uhh if we say yes, would you not apply?

probably not.

But I just want to get the feel on how competitive such a move would be.

What are the admin rates I ll be looking at?

Uh. I think you are looking at an admit rate of probably 3% or so for internationals needing aid or 5% or so if you don’t need aid. SCEA usually doesn’t give you any sort of advantage - since the applicant pool is stronger.

hey frankchn, I may be just thinking wishfully, but the applicants from Singapore usually dont apply for aid rite?

and are the two pools assessed differently, that is, stanford selects a few students from each pool of the non aid and aid category?

applying for aid to stanford as an international, esp if you’re from singapore, is suicidal. serious.

hmm yea that’s what I heard :(

If you have a passion for physics, make sure it shows throughout your activities. Since you have strength in the science, take the ACT. You might do really well if you take it twice.

Well about 20%-25% of each incoming Singaporean class gets aid - so it is not exactly “suicidal” but in general - yeah quite hard.
