We have a wonderful system of advising. Sweet Hall is very helpful. You can make an appointment to see anyone: from the director of undergraduate research to freshman dean of advising. It is their job to help you. I feel like they do sincerely care.

My freshman advising group (app 10 in each one) isn't very helpful. It depends on who is your advisor and peer mentor (PM). Both of my PM and advisor act more of a "check-in" than as "academic consultants." Help is there if you seek it.

You don't choose your dorm freshman year. You fill out a questionaire where you list your preference for what type of dorm you want to be in. If you want to do SLE or FroSoCo, you're going to be in East FloMo or Gov. Corner.

There is the Bridge for depression. We have a 24-hr help hotline.

I'd say the best source of advices are from the upperclassmen because they have already traveled down the path

Funny story, too--shows how cool of a place stanford is. I was doing a physics problem set (and *****ing about it) so to procrastinate I opened the September issue of Scientific American. The first article I opened to interviewed Nick Melosh and talked about his work at Stanford--he's my academic advisor. Nice guy.

yeah I got your e-mail ashveer..you're only in Lahore for a day? How will we meet up? Anyway...zephyr how is the scene for internationals in Stanford?
