Stanford..is It Possible With Low Sat

does stanford really care about sat score if you're a junior transfer?

Stanford is very specific that it requires SAT scores for transfers, which is somewhat unusual, at least for public and private schools out in California. Based on that alone, it seems like there is at least moderate attention placed upon SAT scores.

That said, if SAT scores are low, then the other aspects of the application really need to sparkle - very impressive/unusual/stand-out extra-curriculars as well as a very strong GPA.

You don't state how low the SAT scores are, or if any SAT IIs were taken and those scores. It is likely that at some point, a really low set of SATs, no matter how great the other aspects of the application, that it would be very detrimental.

Check out transfer class of 2007 SAT scores... Undergraduate Admission | Class Profile - Fall 2006
In that class, Stanford did not take anyone who had a SAT Critical Reading below 600. Even more stringent, Stanford did not take anyone who had a SAT Writing score lower than 700. So, those are two very strong benchmarks to know. There was more leeway on the Math, though the vast majority still scored over 600. And when I say "vast", know that we're talking an admit transfer class of 20 people total.

Bottom line, I would advise someone to aim for a minimum 700 in all three categories, ESPECIALLY in the Writing category, where there seems to be no "give" in the system. What I took from their 2007 transfer class stats is that their top priority is VERY strong writers/readers who also have reliable math/logic skills.

So, if your scores don't meet those benchmarks, start studying and retake the test/s next fall by the deadlines set for transfer admissions.
