We received a letter from a professor in the languages department with a detail that
seems tailor made to S1. It said that Stanford had some new joint major programs
for CS + X (see URL below). S1 completed Spanish AP, is in Japanese AP and is
in 4th year Chinese at the community college (Chinese level placement was after
self study and he's doing well.) The only question it raised was - why are these joint
major programs specific to these languages: German, French or Slavic languages?
Would it be just as easy to do a joint major in say Korean and Computer Science? I
know Stanford offers many more languages. Just trying to figure out why these joint
programs are specifically limited to the three? Thank you.

Stanford doesn’t offer a Korean major. The language majors listed in the CS+X list match the available language majors, if you do not count “… cultures” majors as a language.

Thanks much D10.
