Stanford, Low GPA, and Gap Year Q's.

I do agree 100% with WOWM, May I add :

  1. If your metal illness is current and prevailing, you need to take care of it now and do not attempt to apply until it is cured 100%.mental breakdown is the last thing you want in med school and the residency thereafter. I was looking some hospital's residency requirements for D, just for fun. The first criteria is 80 hour work week and three floating all night shift per week. One of the statement from Dartmouth is we have 4 openings per year and normally we receive 500 applicants.
  2. There are many new med school come on line recently, do not ignore them when applying.
  3. Schools like Howard, Oakland and Maherry AVERAGE gpa is around 3.6 in 2014, it is going to be much higher for unhooked applicants. The bar on gpa has been rising since 2014 because grade inflation practice. You do not have a chance in OOS public, as WOWM said.
  4. If you are confident in your ability, since you went to the top UG in the World, you may want to try SMP and if you are good in the program you do have a chance for a higher tier md school.

What happens if I apply to schools with my 511 and 3.5?

You need to tell us more…

What is your science GPA?

what grades did you get in bio, gen Chem, Orgo, and physics?

If those science grades are high, AND you submit TMDSAS early, (can you submit in May or June for TMDSAS?), and you apply to all of the Tx meds, you should get accepted to at least one MD school.
