Stanford Main Essay

The limit is 4800 characters, but would they look down on an essay that was only in the 3800-4000 character range, but made an excellent point in a clear and succinct way? I'm just looking at my essay now, and I feel like if I add on any more it'll dilute its meaning.

yeah thats a huge amount of characters, mine was only 500-600 words

ive told this story like a thousand times recently lol, but i think its so awesme

at some point, stanfords had something like "describe yourself in three words or less"

and this kid used concise

...bloody brilliant. moral of the story: just be yourself. as few or as many words as it takes.

My essay had around 600 words... 3600 characters?... anyhoo, when I print-previewed, it fit PERFECTLY in the space provided on the page.

On the other hand, my short essays were 1595, 1585, and 1488 characters... nearing the 1600, 1600, 1500 limits... they went entirely out of the box on the print-preview PDF.

Just a frame of reference :)

i hate apps, ive never heard that story before. that was magic. thank you.

actually, contradicting your story, I read that Stanford ppl got sick of answers like, "concise," frankly because that is just being smaht and doesn't tell anything about the applicant.

that wasnt really my point - i wasnt telling anyone to use the concise thing...i was just saying that length of the essay doesnt matter...

don't be smaht, shark, if its not who you are. just be your usual smart self. again, without letting word number get in the way.

that was my point.
