Stanford MS CS Chances

Hi ,

I am an undergrad student at the Indian Institute of Technology,Varanasi in India . I'm currently a sophomore and would be taking the GRE next year .

Major : Electronic Engineering

Computer Skills : Good Enough ( 10+ languages known , some projects incl a web based forex simulation system and a compiler ) . Working on a web based startup with a couple of friends.

GPA:This worries me a lot , I have an 8.1 on a scale of 10 (Its an absolute grading scale , ie , not relative) . I can get it upto 8.5 though .

Do I have any chance in Stanford MS CS ? What score do I need to get in the GRE if I do have any chance?

Thanks

I don’t know what an 8.5/10 or an 8.1/10 would translate to on the American 4.0 scale. I do think that if you get a perfect (800) on the quantitative section of the GRE and a high (above 650) score on the verbal section --you might get in. You need a perfect on the quantitative.

Apply to several programs, as that will give you a better chance. Stanford is great, but there are other programs as well.

I am just guessing on these numbers.
