Stanford OHS Questions -On behalf of an incoming OHSer

My daughter just got accepted at OHS.She is currently an eight grader who will be looking to start high school at OHS in August 2017.We haven’t spoken to an adviser yet. After looking at the timeline, I have two questions: .

  1. They seem to want a proctor super-fast (in a week or so). We live in the Middle East and we would like to know what criteria a proctor needs to meet. Things here are rarely easy and we would appreciate any insights on this.
  2. They also want her to take placement exams in the exact same week as her school finals here. How hard are these placement exams? Do they need a lot of prep? Any insights would be appreciated.
    Thank you for your help.

Placement exams are generally meant to be taken without preparation as their intent is to assign the student to the class most appropriate for them based on their current knowledge and experience.

I would explain about the Finals, and see if she can do the Placement tests a week or two later. They might be flexible.

What’s Standford ohs?

Thanks HMom16 and sunnyschool. Point taken about preparing for placements:). Given the number she has taken to get into all those HS classes from Grade 6 onwards:) I should have anticipated that response! I will talk to them. We have received a second email from a funny address (utensil@peppermint.stanford.edu), so we are waiting for OHS admissions to confirm:) it comes from the same place as the original admissions letter, before we move forward.

Meanwhile, any information on proctors would be appreciated. If we had an idea, we could start talking to prospects here.

I had to inquire about proctors also - someone suggested a community college. Also library or a teacher or counselor. You might need to know if they require a proctor license.

Dear Sunnyschool,
Thank you. I will start the search today!
