i would say that pot really just doesn't have much of an effect (positive or negative) on one's schoolwork. Of course, increased drug use is very often indicative of any of a myriad of other habits that negatively affect it. however, speaking only for myself, ive been a daily pot smoker most of high school and im an otherwise completely healthy, active, normal kid, and i got into stanford, so that should say something for my schoolwork.</p>

<p>I should warn you that for many, Stanford (college in general...) will do much to break down your attitudes toward substance use.</p>

<p>Also, I got into stanford because i was brilliant and got into yale and princeton but stanford wanted me to come and lured me with their weather.</p>

<p>I did the same exact thing! :) And it tortured me, but I guess it turned out OK.</p>

<p>EDIT: so firebird, what is debate like at Stanford? How is the program? How do we qualify? Is it uber-demanding so that I can't do anything else besides it? I know they focus on NDT policy and APDA debate, but are you guys thinking of exploring NPDA? (I've done that for the last...well, kind of 2 or 3 years).</p>
