Stanford or Harvard

Hi I am very lucky to have this choice in my hands. I want to major in sociology or psychology. It would also be nice to know which school has a good adolescent care program. Please help thank you.

Pick Harvard because it is Harvard. If you’ll graduate from Harvard, you’re not even going to work as a school teacher. You’re probably going to head a school with your Harvard degree, if you won’t end up working in a bank or White House.

Okay; I’m exaggerating… but I think you get the drift of what I am saying.

Just kidding.

Harvard enjoys an unparallel prestige in general public. If you think that is important, then Harvard.

Based on US news graduate school ranking, H and S are tied as #5 in sociology; In psycology, S is #1, H is #3.

If you are more into psycology, then definitely pick Stanford. Stanford has the best psycology department in the whole world (#1 by US NEWS always). In psycological and cognotive sciences, Stanford has 8 faculty members selected into the prestigious national academy of science (NAS), while Harvard has 2.

If you are more into sociology and political science, then pick Harvard. In social and political science, Harvard has 12 NAS members, while Stanford has 5. Harvard has the best political science department in the world, followed by Stanford.

I am sorry I did not clarify this but by adolescent care I mean adolescence care doctor

Weren’t decisions due May 1st?

Both are extremely prestigious. Where do you want to live and work? Someone on the east coast may appreciate the Harvard degree more, but someone on the west coast might side with Stanford.

Also, completely different weathers. Think about that.

ETA: Yeah, the decisions deadlines are over and done. Maybe this is a joke?

This is the OP’s first post and after the decision deadline. It is not clear what you mean when you say you are lucky to have this choice in [your] hands at this late point in the 2011 admissions cycle. Both schools are so selective that this is not worth worrying about without acceptances in hand. As far as the sub-specialty of adolescent medicine as a medical residency, the harvard affiliated Boston Children’s hospital is the premier pediatric hospital in the country +/- world. Number two would be CHOP on the UPenn campus.

wow your life sucks
