As a pre-med student, which school would be better? I would have to say that I see myself fitting in at both schools and I really love both. Which would be better for MCAT prep and med school admission?

Equally excellent for education and prep for MCAT but there are differences. One, Stanford has a med school. MIT doesn't. Two, Stanford has a much broader base in liberal education and humanities. Three, Stanford is a dominant force on the west coast. Do you want to go to med school in the west? Where, eventually, do you want to live and practice medicine?

plus @ MIT it's hella hard to keep a high GPA

If you're asking from a pure "what college would give me a better chance of attending a top medical school, if everything else is equal" perspective, then the answer is Stanford -- without question.

Having said that, perhaps the more important question is where you'd see yourself fitting in better.

both are absolutely terrific schools but with incredibly different feels to their students and campuses ... have you spent overnights at both leading to your statement that you see yourself fitting in at both ... I would expect anyone who visited both to have a very strong preference for one over the other because of their differences.

i absolutely agree that the two are so different. Having visited both, I like each one's differences.

Having said that, after much debate, I've chosen Stanford. I think it's the best for my future. It pains me to turn down MIT though.

congrats ... I'm sure you'll a GREAT experience at Stanford!

You will NEVER, EVER regret going to Stanford.

Thanks! I sure hope that I won't regret this life-changing decision. =)
