i got this from the princeton forum. anyone know how the parties are at stanford. are there alot of them every night during the weekend (lol college weekend - thursday thru saturday)??? how easy is it to get alcohol??? im a big partier and i really want to know,

its easy to get alcohol at any college. as far as the parties, i dont know. i can only say the parties during admit weekend were pretty sad. i went to the minority weekend party at rice and it was pretty good. and the other two parties they had were nice. at emory the frat party during the minority weekend was crazy. i mean it was...well....yeah...it was crazy. stanford just didnt measure up at all. maybe its because the majority of students at the rice and emory parties were minorities and therefore could dance...jp...but that might have soommeethhingg to do with it.

i will say that parties thrown by schools for prospective students aren't gonna be anything like actual college parties, esp with alcohol and drugs if you're into that.

The parties at Admit Weekend were in no way representative of the average parties on campus. The administration really cracked down on alcohol at that time; that weekend was considered a dry weekend.

yeah tell me about it. but the weekends at rice and emory were "dry weekends", as well as the parties, and they were still better than stanford's (though rice had a non weekend affiliated party with alcohol and emory had a ton of weed.) but i'm going to staford so i cant wait to go to a great party, cuz i know they must have them. but its not like i'm the type to base my decision on parties anyway. but it never hurts a school to have good.

the parties at stanford are what you make them. alsohol is easy to get at any college - esp. four class dorms - and nothing went on during admit weekend, trust - it was definitely dry. i don't drink so coming from my perspective a lot of the parties suck - i hear they're much better w/alcohol though. anyway, the point is that you shouldn't come in with high expectations. we have ok parties because we're nerds too.

Of course if you were there a night early for Admit Weekend you might have experienced a not-so-dry Stanford.

I love the Stanford social scene. But I tend to go for co-op parties and gatherings of friends, unless I feel like getting shoved around while trying to dance on a crowded dance floor. Like Peachieva said, the parties are what you make of them.
