I am a prospective engineering student that is thrilled with how happy students seem to be at Stanford, in addition to many other great things that the school can offer. Everyone I know that goes to Stanford is just ecstatic, but I don't know any engineers. I know I am going to study EE, CS, ME, or a blend of those--which is by definition going to be a lot of work.

My question is, do Stanford engineers that are serious about engineering (as I will be) enjoy the same quality of life as do others at Stanford? I suppose that this brings to mind another question: what are the components of Stanford life that make it so great? My friends have said it's life-changing, and it certainly sounds like something that I want to be a part of, but how true will it be for me?
