Stanford REA and Rice RD

<p>Hey guys, I just I'd see if I could get some second opinions on my chances at these schools. I want you to be completely honest.</p>

<p>Ethnicity: white
Gender: male
GPA (unweighted): 4.0
GPA (weighted): 4.71
Rank: Top 2% - #6 out of 530-ish
School: Public magnet ranked on Newsweek's list every year
PSAT: 218 - National Merit in Texas
SAT: 2250 (730 CR, 800 M, 720 W)
ACT: 34
AP scores: Human Geography- 5; World History- 5; US History- 5; English Lang/Comp- 4; planning on taking four more this year</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
-Tennis 5 years
-Academic Octathlon Sophomore year; Academic Decathlon Junior and Senior years (Our teams usually place top 10 in Texas)
-National Honor Society (treasurer this year)
-Student council senator 3 years
-Helps at Salvation Army kitchen once a week
-Summer job as intern at research lab in mechanical engineering department at Texas Tech (competitive application process)
-Math and science team</p>

<p>Geez, I thought I could get at least a couple of replies.</p>

<p>@ OP: You have a solid shot at both schools (you should be able to get into Rice). Stanford is a little more unpredictable, but the best you can do now is to polish your essays and hope for the best.</p>

<p>With everything you have given us…you have a very good shot at those schools (some of those ECs are nice!). However, there’s still the possibility that you might get rejected. (Think stiff competition during the admissions process)</p>

<p>Rice is a match/high match. Stanford is a big reach though.</p>
