Application essay: talking about how my idealism used to get in the way of taking on practical goals for community service (much more specific in essay), and how I learned sometimes I need to start smaller, but can still make a positive impact in the community/ how I use telling really corny jokes to let others laugh at me as much as the joke, which relieves tension in times of pain/stress (my voice is pretty strong and I use I wide range of vocabulary appropriately)
Teacher’s evaluation: I feel like they would have pretty good things to say about me, as they say they only write them for deserving students, but I don’t see their rec so I cant say! I ask lots of questions and actively participate in class, and try to help out other students when they don’t understand something

Hello I am currently a Penn State(honors) student looking to transfer to another school. The reasons I am transferring are because I would like to go to a smaller school. I would also like to be in a urban-suburban area, preferably a city. I would like to transfer to a smaller school where I can distinguish myself more. Preferably a top 10 school for economics. I would also like the econ program to have some work study in it as well as it be more quantitative than PSU’s econ degree. Putting it simply all around I am highly involved here but PSU just isn’t my fit. I am very passionate about my major as you will be able to tell through my app. Please give me your thoughts on where I stand and I will also chance you back!

Schools I am applying to:
Upenn
Villanova
NYU
Georgetown
Cornell
Brown
Columbia (have a legacy here)
Stanford

Summer Semester: Took one class and got a C. My advisor at the time misadvised me and I ended up not needing the class. I was a part time intern at two companies at the time and it was too much. I will explain the C in my essays and take responsibility for my misjudgment. It really sucks because without it after this semester I would be in the 3.85-3.9 ranges.

Internships:

Recommendations:

Additional information:
I am currently working on a senior project on stem cells. I am interning at a top cancer research center to learn about stem cells. My responsibilities include: taking mature red blood cells and centrifuging them into separate parts; then using this, creating induced pluripotent stem cells from the red blood cells by reprogramming them; next generating, maintaining, and cyropreserving the new stem cells; and finally, differentiating them stem cells into two different lineages, first into cardiac muscle, then into red blood cells again. In the end I will teach a class to high school students about centrifuging blood cells and then explain how this was essential to my project and research in general. This is entirely my project, and not some program that I am jumping into.

I have also been in orchestra for 8 years, and can play the Bass and Cello. I am the Principal Bassist of my Orchestra.

I am member of JSA and have received a varsity letter for being in the top 10% of participants of the club.

Essays:
Common app essay is very strong. It is about skiing with my dad and how I enjoy challenging myself. I have spent much time on it and it really reveals a lot about who I am. Everyone who has read it loves it.

Duke supplements are pretty strong as well. Everyone who has read them has given me glowing remarks.

Stanford supplements should be solid.

Letters of Rec:
Letter from AP bio teacher. I had her for 2 years, she is the advisor for Science Club. She is also my staff contact for my senior project. It should be amazing.

Letter from APUSH teacher. It should be pretty good, but nothing incredible.

I’m also getting a letter from someone I am working in the lab with on my senior project. She really wanted to write me a letter and it should be great.

Thank you so much for doing this!

littlebuilder where are you in our darkest hour oh littlebuilder

Can you (@littlebuilder) please chance us? Eagerly waiting…
:D

bump this please

WE"RE HERE sorry guys it was midterms week. But we have five people here now!

@Redsnow: 40%, your dad working here helps your app but your own accomplishments are also great and make you a solid applicant.

@samMIT: we can’t really give a chance based on stats only through junior year, but applying as an international is extremely unpredictable anyways. Good luck!

@mictuc: You’re a standard applicant to Stanford, solid app but average chances, 8%

@koroket: Your transcript is so cool! Way to pursue your academic passions. I’d give you 25% chance (almost 5 times normal chances). Japanese won’t distinguish you from Chinese, sorry!

@violingal: Pretty solid application! Like a 25% chance, good luck!

@joann: not a ton of information but you seem like a good applicant! However you’re international so it’s a big, big reach

@uniobsessed: You should still apply to Stanford! You’re a great applicant You seem like an excellent applicant for most of those schools, so good chances, however Yale and Princeton have similar difficult international admissions so it’s difficult to tell for those.

@Frank: solid application, normal chances of about 14%. Good luck! UVA, U Miami, Case Western, ND you’re good; Rice and Hopkins are slightly harder but still fairly good odds

@wimmiett: Your chances are up in the air for Stanford and Columbia however you look like you have a solid application (essays will be a deciding factor). I’d have to see your portfolio to judge for specific architecture programs like Cornell and UVA (feel free to PM me). Best of luck!

@newjers: We don’t know a ton about Mich and WashU, however I know some people who go there and you seem like a solid applicant! Good chances at Mich, WashU is a bit more difficult but don’t worry too much at all. Good luck! :)

@Polisci: You seem like a great applicant! Your ECs reflect your academic interests really well, just illustrate your passions well in your app. 25%

@CalTech: Way to go with all that badminton! You seem like a really cool international applicant, similar to some that we’ve seen here. Chances are slim because that’s how international admissions works but best of luck!

@rachel: You’re a pretty solid applicant! Your essays are interesting but not the most original in the world, we give you a 20% chance

@jake: Sorry but we don’t really understand transfer admissions, but it’s incredibly difficult (1.5% acceptance rate) so best of luck to you!

@picklechicken: You’re pretty much into Duke ED, your stem cell research project sounds really cool! Stanford will depend on your supplements but you’re an excellent applicant

Glad we could help guys! Remember, college admissions is still lots of luck (particularly at a place like Stanford) and we can’t be definitive at all but maybe this helped. No matter what you’ll all end up at great places where you’ll be really happy, and we wish Stanford could take so many amazing students!

Chance me for Stanford
