Stanford SAT/ACT Policy

Hi everyone. So on Stanford’s website, they require that an applicant submit ALL of his/her test scores for the SAT and ACT. However, my ACT score (34) was significantly higher than my SAT (2070), so I’m not sure if I would want to send my SAT score in at all. Would they be able to know if I’ve even taken it if I don’t send it in? Also, I’d like to send my SAT subject tests as well. Will they somehow see that I didn’t report my SAT score and disregard my application? I know that for Yale, they require to send in ALL of your SAT scores or ALL of your ACT scores - is it the same with Stanford?

I’m pretty sure you have to send in every single test. If you don’t then you’re just gambling. If they found out that you didn’t report your 2070, they might just reject you on the spot. Just submit everything, every single SAT, SAT II, and ACT test you ever took.

They require all of the tests to superscore.

What if ACT from 7th, 8th grade and SAT from 9th grade? Should I purge them?

First, what about this is confusing? Did you look at the Stanford web site?

You don’t have to send in tests taken for TIP.

If you “purge” scores and the school hears about it then you’ll be denied admission. If found out later you will be rescinded or potentially dismissed if you’re already a student.

How much do you pay for sending all scores?

As @herewelearn was saying, do we send scores from Grade 7, 8, and 9 as well?

No. 7th grade and 8th grade tests were for Northwestern university (Midwest) talent search. So I don’t have to send them.

@herewelearn For SAT score report, you pay for one that includes all previous scores. For ACT, you pay for each report individually. However, you may just send one and self report the others if you demonstrate a financial problem.

Any “all scores” rule at colleges that have them do not include tests taken in 8th grade or before, but 9th grade is included.

As to sending official scores, you can do so for a single charge per college for all your SATs and subject tests but ACT charges a separate fee per test per college.

Stanford requires all ACTs and all SATs, but you can send whatever subject tests you want to send. As to your not wanting to send the SATs, that means you do not want to follow a requirement for admisison, which is not proper to do. When you submit both SAT and ACT to Stanford, it, like other colleges, will use to determine admisison that test it believes has the higher score. As to whether Stanford would find out you concealed your SAT scores, the answer is that it mainly depends on what your high school does. Many high schools put all your scores on your offical high school transcript sent to colleges, and thus, if yours does so, if you withhold sending scores through College Board, Stanford will learn you did so through your transcript.

Yale, by the way requires either all ACT scores, or, alternatively, all SAT and all subject test scores. If you send any subject test scores you must send all SAT and all subject test scores. It is also pointless to send ACT and subject tests without SAT scores. It views the ACT as a test separate for consideration from both the SAT and subject tests. Thus, if you submit ACT and subject tests, only the ACT will be used to determine admission; you must submit SAT for the subject tests to be considered.

HS don’t have my son’s ACT scores from middle school. We can choose not to send those two ACT scores from 7th and 8th grade.
