Stanford SCEA + (unrest.) EA elsewhere: Risk It?

If one applies SCEA to Stanford, then applies (unrestricted) Early Action to another school, will Stanford ever find out/care? Is it worth the risk?

You aren't allowed to, and are bound by the honor system.

They might find out, you never know.

No, it's not worth the risk. You don't want to get screwed.

I don't know if they'd find out, but I'm sure they'd care. And I seriously doubt it'd be worth the risk... first off, I don't think EA is SUCH an amazing advantage that if you don't do it you're screwed (so there wouldn't be that much of a payoff), but second -- and more important -- you don't want to be nervous, or guilty, OR to risk a Stanford acceptance.

Depends where else you're applying EA. Under the SCEA policy you are allowed to apply to public schools EA. As for private schools, the payoff is decent (a better chance at two schools) but the risk (both schools would reject your application if they find out) is high. It's difficult to say how likely it is they would find out. As a more practical consideration, your counselor signs the statement that you're only applying SCEA to Stanford, and they probably wouldn't agree to sending in forms for two schools if it breaks the rules.
