So I know that the supplement says answer the prompts in two lines or less, but there's also a word limit - for the longer answers, like "the most significant challenge that society faces", is it fine to use the full world limit, or do I need to cut it way down to 2 lines?

I know other threads discuss this, but I haven't seen a concise answer, so sorry if this sounds familiar.

get back 2 school

I'm pretty sure there's a character limit... ignore the lines thing... it's too restricting...

Where are these questions from? it's not on the website for essays. How do you find these questions? Do you have to apply to Stanford in the Common Application before you can see it?

yea, i think the only place to see them is on the supplement, since stanford doesn't have a downloadable app

I kept all of mine to two lines, using about ~250 of the allotted 300 characters. It should be doable, I figured using sentences was a waste of space for a few of them.

Check how many lines you have when you hit Print/Print Preview, it's not that bad.

I went back to my supplement to check my application, and I used 295-300 for all of the questions, and everything came out okay. I also saw that CommonApp never changed my application like I asked (I accidently checked int'l student applying for student aid and asked them to change it on Nov. 2) I'm scared now!

I tried to do 2 lines, but I went to three for the challenge, hero, and historical event one. Bah. Mixed signals from application instructions confuse me.

Jo, I also emailed something to them to have fixed! It was actually on the Supplement Info, and though the changes don't show up when I click on the Common App files it's still been changed, according to the Admissions Office.

Hope that's a little reassuring!
