Stanford Supplement

I just read one of the threads on this forum about what people have listed as their favorite books, movies, etc.

And then I looked at mine. I don't seem "human" in the way people have defined it. It's a silly fear, I know, but...

What if I really DO just listen to classical music, as in, my mother knows more about popular music than I do? Actually, for that question, I just had so many books/authors to list. I read so much it's kind of disgusting. And I read a lot of pretentious-sounding periodicals, and I'm afraid it'll seem like a big lie, but it isn't.

I'm not a total freak. I'm a bit of a guitar nut as well as a classical music nut and like to listen to GOOD (emphasis here, meaning not Green Day and emo) rock and some indie (I don't like that term).

Wow, I just thought of two more questions. I didn't have room for all I wanted to put for those 300 character questions, so I didn't use spaces between when listing (e.g. The Cat in the Hat,SpongeBob,The Feminine Mystique). Also, I'm obsessed with a certain author and put his name in all caps. Risky?

Finally (you all are probably giggling at my idiocy at this point), I don't even know if I should submit this app early. Stanford's my first choice, my SATs are really great (I mean this), my extracurriculars are great, I write well...but my GPA, while it's well above a 4.0 weighted, is rather low unweighted. Should I wait for RD?

Have mercy on another silly high school student who's becoming a little insecure/paranoid, if you would :).

Sheep

Just be yourself. If this is you, it's what your app should reflect. They don't have a profile in mind, they are looking for real people, so if it's consistent with the rest of your app, it's more than fine.

And only you can know whether providing another semester of grades to Stanford will be significant to your profile, because only you know what your transcript looks like. If that's your main worry, ask your counselor.

Thanks so much! :)

I would not apply for SCEA if I were you. If your grade is not as strong, waiting for the first semester is a better idea. I don't think SCEA would help, especially at Stanford they will reject instead of defer.
