I am trying to preview my daughter's Stanford essays and short answers. (She is applying early decision.) I can preview her common application which includes one page of Stanford specific information. I can not, however, preview in PDF form her Stanford essays or short answers. Nothing shows up.

Am I missing something? Does she have to submit her common application (with the one page of Stanford information) before she can preview in PDF her Stanford essays. Or has she encountered another of the many Common Application bugs?

She has most likely encountered a bug with the application. Their servers tend to get overloaded this week. She’ll need to just try again at another time and hope it isn’t as busy.

Also, just a technicality but your daughter is not applying early decision. She’s applying restrictive early action. This means she is not obligated to go to S if she gets in (which is what ED means) but can not apply anywhere but S early (the “restrictive” in REA).

Don’t take this too seriously since I don’t have any experience with the new Common App, but I’ve heard that it won’t let you see the supplement in PDF form until you’ve submitted it.

You should be able to preview the supplement before submission. We got the same problem with my D’s Purdue supplement at submission though. We have submitted several tickets 3 weeks ago and they just said they are working on it on their weekly response. There is no solution at CA yet. We ended up contacted the admission office and found the supplement they downloaded was corrupted. They let us e-mail them the supplement directly. I doubt Stanford would do the same though but it won’t hurt to try.

Under my pressure, my son finally finished his supplemental essays.
He could not review the supplemental PDFs initially. But once he was done with the payment part, the Spplemental PDF was available for a final reading. The system seems work just fine.
