I am currently in high school and am considering applying to Stanford. I am a fast swimmer and would probably make the swim team at Stanford (not trying to sound arrogant).

Regarding the swim team at Stanford: What are the team's average GPAs and SAT scores from when they were in high school? They probably aren't as high as the rest of the students' scores at Stanford, are they?

Thanks in advance for your answers! :)

You should pose your question at the college admission/athletic recruits board. Here’s a link to look up times of current swimmers. [Official Men’s Swimming Roster - Stanford University’s Official Athletic Site](http://www.gostanford.com/sports/m-swim/mtt/stan-m-swim-mtt.html)

Swimming isn’t one of those sports where recruitment would make a difference in admissions (even those where it does, such as football and basketball, the difference is small). Your GPA/SAT would need to be just as high as the rest.

You should contact the swim coach. If your times are very good they will help get you into the school.

OP - just as an example, in our high school, the olympic qualifier did NOT get into Stanford. He did get into Berkeley though. Couple years back, again another national level (top 20 and olympic qualifier) got into Princeton and not Stanford. It just depends on what the swim coaches are looking to fill…what events etc. But essentially you have to have olympic trial timings. Yes, and I believe GPA/SAT have to be up there…maybe they will cut you some slack…but still in the ball park :)

Ok…and to add on, the folks who got into Cal and Princeton had regional MVP awards and all kinds of State level record holders. check out some of the profiles here http://www.gostanford.com/sports/w-swim/mtt/stan-w-swim-mtt.html (click on the names)
Very impressive…a lot of them are internationally placed…(and Junior national champions, members of the U.S. Junior National Team )
