<p>I happened to use 9X12 envelopes out of fear of the adcoms’ wrath, though I’m sure that it isn’t pivotal to your actual admissions. I simply obtained the envelopes myself from a local and gave them to any teachers that preferred to mail recommendations.</p>
<p>I missed that part and gave my teachers 4.5x9.5 envelopes. Oh well, at least I put on the mailing labels…</p>
<p>Whatever happened to the plain old online Common App?</p>
<p>I believe the whole 9x12 unstapled, unfolded requirement is just because it makes it easier for them to scan the forms into their computer systems. I don’t even know if the adcoms see the actual paper forms, so I doubt it influences their decision in any way. Just a courtesy to whomever the forms get scanned by.</p>
