Stanford Transfer Applicants 2009

Oops, the email with the Stanford ID is actually dated April 13, not 14.

hm. im not in teh system, nor anything about finaid. =\ oh well. =D

Yes, I’ll probably going to Cal.
But it’s true it’s difficult to give up hopes for Stanford.
But…I’m still psyched to go to Berkeley. Maybe some of you guys will get into Stanford and we’ll meet at sports matches. :)

Good luck to all of this year’s applicants.

i’m not in the system nor have i been contacted for fin. aid. my only hope for stanford is grandfather’s name. shot in the dark.

it’s too bad they had to reduce the transfer applicant space so much down to 20-30 each year; 5 or 6 years ago there used to be around 80-150 transfers that were admitted each year. i guess they just don’t like our kind very much anymore.

There’s a two day gap between the letter and package.

If they put it all online this year – you should be able to see both immediately.

Bourne, just to clarify, you never tried the SUnet thing, correct?

I don’t want to find out about Stanford ahead of time. I think it might jinx it.(I’m super superstitious…I wrap God around it and call it religious.)

I just called admissions and asked specifically if they’re still in the process of deciding or are done and are just putting the packets together. The guy (Matt) said they’re still deciding. Also, they don’t anticipate releasing decisions early, so like I said before, we shouldn’t count on hearing earlier than May 15th, 5pm PT. It will probably be a super busy week next week in 355 Galvez Street, with transfer admissions and the freshman waitlist business going on at the same time. Let’s not give up hope just yet :)

Breaking news: the SUnet method worked for this year’s incoming freshmen, but ONLY ON D-DAY ITSELF (at least from what I can confirm… don’t know if it worked the day before). Those that it worked for that day mentioned it did not work for them just days before. There was one guy who claims he was accepted despite the ID not working for him, but he didn’t say how close to D-Day he last checked and if he tried multiple times just in case he just put in his ID wrong. He also might’ve been one of those tough calls whose fate was decided at the very last minute.

Thanks to the guy on the Stanford forum who referred me to that thread.

In short, we still have reason to hope! 6 more days :)

i would say 7 days because part of today plus the majority of friday (decisions not released until after 5pm PACIFIC time…which means for you in chicago that’s like 7pm). so yea. 7 days left.

You’re definitely right that decisions won’t come out until that time, but in my mind, I’m only counting down until the clock hits Friday  It sounds better that way, and D-Day itself is pretty exciting/nerve-wracking to me already. I guess you could say my countdown is kinda like people’s birthday countdowns… once that clock strikes midnight, they consider themselves a year older even if they’re technically not born until 7 pm on that day. It’s just more exciting to think of countdowns this way.

So guys, how will you spend this week while waiting?

Summer school!

finding a job!

partying/chilling with friends and exercising! beach season is just around the corner ;)

Taking my last final and then relaxing.

any junior transfers?

I’m a junior transfer but wouldn’t mind if accepted as sophomore.
Well…maybe I would.
