sunglasses, if it was done for two years… Don’t you think Stanford would have noticed before? If the warning was published in January-February (according to Nahs message, idk if it appeared on the website), and the loophole as you see wasn’t closed since then, what does it mean? Stanford knows there is a problem, but doesn’t fix it… I understand people who would think the university is “okay” with it, because the IDs get uploaded there shortly before the official decisions are sent out, so it’s no big deal and doesn’t change anything… You can check a day or 2 hours in advance, and it’s not like you steal someone’s decision or alter someone’s info… That’s the reason some people might have thought Stanford didn’t fix it because… Because this loophole doesn’t allow you to do much harm, just check your ID.

I agree ssssunglasssess, but it just doesn’t seem to be grounds for rejection does it? Something as trivial as trying your ID to see if it works in a SUnetwork? I don’t know, that’s just me.

i never said that i don’t think it’s stupid that stanford could revoke acceptances because of it. tbh i think they just want to exert their power because they know people salivate over getting in, so now they’re like “ha ha…we can easily take it away from you.” so they reel you out and cut the string (radiohead references ftw). i’m just saying that it’s a private institution and they can do whatever the eff they want based on whatever criteria they want. but life goes on.

Haha I like the radiohead references. But you’re absolutely right, they can do whatever they want, and life goes on. It is what it is. Weird as hell, but it is what it is.

For those who haven’t figured it out, liontree and albaniankeeper are the same. Well, I think most people had figured that part out. For whatever twisted reason, liontree has been making things up. He probably didn’t even apply to Stanford, probably doesn’t go to Northwestern, probably isn’t even a college student. Stanford probably didn’t let the SUnet thing affect any admissions decisions, so there is nothing to be upset about. It was a tough year to get into Stanford, especially as a transfer, and that is the understatement of the year. Fortunately I not longer have to feel like anyone got cheated out of a spot. I feel silly for having gotten swept up in this, my thanks to Nahs for cluing me in.

Wow, as much as we are all riveted by this thread (lol), I think it’s time to cool it. Oh, for the record, I’m not Albaniankeeper (thank you for your support though :)).

how strange that you appear now… >.>

Pea, how long did it take you to cook up that off-the-wall theory?

So is Stanford going to punish admitees because of a mistake in the IT department? Why does Stanford care if an admitee found out a few days early? What difference does it make? As long as the applicant used the exact ID Stanford sent, it’s not hacking.

Thank you vossron. Thank you.

Why is it strange? Pea and I posted at the same time (same minute-- check the time of the post). I wasn’t responding directly to his post. No, really, I’m not Albaniankeeper. How would I prove this? But then again, if you don’t believe me, what do I care?

@vossron: because stanford is power hungry and think they’re the ****. they probably don’t like that students can outsmart them, and want to make it known that they get the last laugh. perhaps i’m just cynical.
btw, i didn’t apply to, nor have i ever applied to, nor do i intend to apply to, stanford. so i’m not a bitter reject or anything haha.

Seriously guys, don’t you all have homework to do? haha

Pea, the lion provided screenshots of his SunetID thing… And assuming he is American (which I assume he is) I am located about 10 000 miles away from him… You can ask any moderator to check that by comparing our IP addresses (I give my permission in case it is needed).

@lion: semester’s over, sucka. so i’m free to ■■■■■ forums all day and waste my life away. yay.

Enjoy the nice weather out! I’ve been walking around basking in the sun all day, eating frozen yogurt and drinking bubble tea. Glorious!

Btw, have you guys seen the new X-Men movie? is it any good?

I LOVE how lion and albanian just happened to post at the same minute for posts 757, 758 as if to “prove” they aren’t the same person. Please. We’re not that stupid but maybe you are.

Seriously, we’re not. If you have the means, you may look at my IP address as well. So every person that posts here with a new name who supports me is me? There are over 29,000 views of this thread-- many of the lurkers have surfaced just now. Some of them support me. Some of them don’t. Do you honestly believe that scenario I just described is impossible? What about 3BrainyDaughters… is he/she me too? I believe there are many other people who support me with a low post count as well. Lol, I don’t understand why you’re so worked up over this.

you could be using a proxy. just sayin’.

I don’t even know what a proxy is…
