I will be applying under a 3.4 (You may consider that to be too low)

I have been through a lot in life, including hardships/sucess/jobs. My chances are EXTREMELY minimal, I believe that I could compensate some of my grades for what I have been through, and accomplished throughout my life.

Stanford is where I WANT to go so I'm going to apply. (period!)

clearly it's college isn't it? Transfer right?
well... minimal chances are still good :)
i wish you luck
what kind of hardships/success/jobs have you had?

My original post was addressed to Stanford Students who received transfer admission: Did you get in? and What was your statistics? This information would be very helpful

I received a 3.38 (to be exact) and my chances at a 3.4 by the end of this semester are very good. This is my GPA in College, which is why I posted in the transfer forum. I wouldn't iike to go into complete detail about my life because I'd rather keep my identity somewhat anonymous but I do feel that I have been through notable experiences in my life that could outshine my academic progress and represent my intellect differently. In terms of hardships, I've been through a lot the past couple years, If someone has some stanford-transfer input and feels that it requires me to "spill the beans" then sure I'd be glad to elaborate.

Well if you find what you have been through is crucial to your admission and effects your academic career, I couldn't see why it shouldn't be noted. The Stanford admissions guidlines described things like this to be significant to an application.

I'm 18 years old and this is my 3rd year in Junior College. I received an equivancely certificate because I was no longer able to go to high school, due to some of my "notable circumstances".

Thank you for the luck, who knows what could happen? Anyone know how important alumni is? I have a cousin who just graduated and we're very close (like brothers), I couldn't see a direct advantage but if there is one, it'd be great to know!

Good luck, come up with a compelling reason to transfer and focus on the unique experiences/hardships, that'll make your application better and give the adcoms insight into your life. If you can portray your desire to attend, and have interesting life stories and experiences you can bring to the farm, you never know what could happen.
