This is my current list of schools to apply to. Is this too many schools? Too many reaches? Chances??

Super Reach
1. Stanford (parent is alum)
2. Harvard??? (hahaha, parent is alum/pressuring me to apply, but should I even bother? =p)

Reaches:
3. Brown
4. Columbia
5. U Penn
6. Georgetown

Slight Reaches:
7. UCB/UCLA
8. WUSTL
9. U of Michigan
10. Pomona or Northwestern or U Chicago

Matches
11. UCSD
12. NYU

Safeties
13. UCD
14. Boston University

Interests: Spanish/Swahili, study abroad, international relations, environmental science, history, art...

For all of those reaches, 1-10 on your list, that 520 math is going to be a huge hump. Even BU, 520 is well below their 25th percentile. I'm not sure BU is so safe.

Fair enough, but do you think that the rest of my profile would make them overlook that math score?

jumpingbean:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach

Potentially I think it very well could, but I would consider it highly unlikely at everything above your slight reaches. Those are all top tier schools that, unfortunately for all of us, have a ton of high level rounded students applying to them.

If there's any way you could retake it, it wouldn't hurt. The UCs only take single sitting, right? Even if it lowered your CR score 10-30 points, having a substanitally higher math score would really help you at places like Berkeley and UCLA.

Alright, thanks for your honesty.

any other opinions?

............bump?

I think at your slight reach schools like WUSTL the 520 will really be an obstacle, same deal with your reaches. Stanford and Harvard are already pretty well categorized . . .
