Stanford University Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@03obvious you may want to check out the recent diss track made by Stanford students on harvard before making that decision

Guess its Berkeley for me; stanfordrejects.com is too true.

Iā€™m too scared to check, so Iā€™m not going to lol. Judging by the results on this thread, itā€™s most likely a rejection.

Iā€™ve been waitlisted!!

I havenā€™t been too active on here but my fingers are crossed. Congrats to everyone on their other admissions. If I donā€™t get in Iā€™ll be sticking with Berkeley, so I might see you there if this doesnā€™t work out!

@JellyPeeps as someone who participated in lots of events in the Ann Arbor campus Iā€™m guessing, you will love it. The entire city is dedicated to U of M to a degree as Iā€™m sure you might have had a chance to see that as well. Youā€™ve been very helpful along with @thestandard @IndirectProofs and wishing you all the best of luck on your next journey!

@Snekfest No problem! Good luck to you as well. Michigan was my first choice before JKC, so I was thrilled to be admitted. I have friends out there and did summer research there in 2018, so I already know some faculty. Today I went out and interview with someone in the Residential college to get into a program to teach art, creative writing, poetry, and theatre to prison inmates and that went really well. So, things are really coming together for me at Michigan. I did want to wait on Princeton and Stanford thoughā€¦ just in case.

@Alejrz It seems like you will get in for sure because one is already talking about declining their offer.

@ryancorddavid Letā€™s not say for sure. Others have been waitlisted as well.

@IndirectProofs I would strongly suggest you to apply to one of the general studies/extension schools at Harvard, MIT, Columbiaā€¦ You are definitely far more than qualified to get in with full financial aid packages. Itā€™s not because you are not good enough, its just not the right programs. Once you got in, study/research hard for a year and than you can easily internally transfer to these programs/departments. Good luck!

@ryancorddavid @Asifion while Iā€™m grateful to hear thereā€™s at least one spot, itā€™ll be a fight to get in still. Iā€™ve heard that the waitlist is more than likely in the single digits, but those waitlisted are all being considered. I hope I get in because itā€™d be a dream! Iā€™m going to work really hard on my response and hope for the best!

A little bit late, but happy to say I was accepted!

Rejected ā€“ non traditional Marine Corps veteran. Maybe Iā€™ll have better luck with Penn or Iā€™ll accept Tulane or Miamiā€™s offers.

@trg2010 do you mind sharing stats?

@Faexpopuli No it says no more than three undergraduate applications, so youā€™re good.

& Iā€™m from Northeastern no UW

Argh! I feel bad not having been here last night for the reveals! Was studying for a midterm this morning and completely missed it. A few notesā€¦

To those rejected - this is not the end of the road for you by any stretch of the imagination. Yes, even if you wonā€™t be coming to Stanford for undergraduate studies. What brings people here as a transfer is a combination of hard work, determination, a lot of luck, and a mystery ingredient unknown to anyone but those in the room making decisions. It may sound clichĆ©, but the number of qualified applicants in those former two categories far exceeds the latter two. Itā€™s not fair, and it is incredibly unfortunate. With this said though, those two categories alone, hard work and determination, WILL get you pretty dang far. They got you to the point of applying for Stanford, and Harvard, and Berkeley, and USC, and UMich - something not many students can say! They will bring you success at those universities. And they will bring you success at life. I really mean that!

@JellyPeeps Not afraid to admit Iā€™m a bit jealous! Being from Michigan I love UM, and Ann Arbor, and everything associated with it. I literally cried when I was finally accepted to UM, after being rejected once as a frosh and once as a transfer. I do love it out here, but a part of me still wonders where Iā€™d be if I had gone to UM instead. And I may see you for grad school!

@Alejrz talk to @jasonspyres ā€¦ Nuff said. lol

@trg2010 congratulations! Reach out if youā€™d like to chat.

@riteaid I think several posts back @trg2010 mentioned that he was a student veteran and had a 4.0, but yeah, itā€™s always curious to see an admitted studentā€™s profile!

@mjr2013 thanks for all your insights and encouragements, and willingness to hang out here with us hopefuls. Hope you ace that midterm!

@mjr2013 Thanks! I really love Michigan and it was my first choice for a long time, so I am thrilled with how it worked out. Would I have loved to go to Princeton or Stanford? Heck yeah, but it would have been a hard decision anyway because of how much I love Michigan and have going for me. I was also fortunate to get fully funded, so it makes it that much sweeter!!

See you in grad school.

Just saw this thread while looking some other rejects lol. I got accepted in Case Western and UM, so I gotta chose between those two now, any advice?

Rejected, no surprise
