@ghettopony Have you ever visited Evergreen Valley College? There are many competitive applicants that applied to Stanford University this year based on the stats I had read.

oh my, that’s even more discouraging. and no, i’ve never been. i’ve spent these past two years in my own little bubble; the bubble which encompasses the schools, workplaces, and occasional restaurants i frequent

@ghettopony It was not meant to be discouraging. I do wish you luck with your educational endeavors! Regardless of the stats that we both had seen, I feel that one should be proud of their accomplishments if they deem it worthy.

There are many factors that Stanford takes into consideration such as GPA, ECs, letters of recommendation, etc.

haha, yes, i know. you mean well and stanford does seem to evaluate their applicants using a holistic approach. however, … the motions.

lol

@ghettopony If you do not mind me asking, how does your stats look?

sure, i don’t mind. let me pm them to you so as not to let the whole world know ghettopony more than they should

kay, sent.

Fantastic chance, great ECs. Thank you for serving our country.

@tomraskin190: Thank you for serving our country! I hope you get in.

must you even ask tomraskin? i needn’t be a fortuneteller to tell you that i see greatness in your future :)

Thanks, I appreciate it everyone.

if you retook your SATs you might the most perfect applicant on the face of the Earth.

yeah I should have retaken them. Hopefully they understand that the SAT is for high school kids and I have been out of high school for 8 years now, with some substantial life experience as you can see.

Still, I’m pessimistic about getting accepted.

I was told by one of the kids commenting on the site (on the “what are my chances” threads) that because I got 24 on my ACT I have no chance at Stanford or Columbia.

I think in this thread there might be more mature people with more experience that could give me a more educated guess.

I am 28 from Israel (5 years in the US)
HS grades are horrible
CC GPA 3.95
4 years as an officer in the Israeli military in a fighting command role
4 years of work experience in the US in sales
I took the ACT this year and I didnt feel I was represented in it (being older) - as I said I got a composite 24 and English 22
I have very good recommendations and great essays
2 tech internships
Humane society volunteer

Anyone has any input ?
I would love to hear what #tomraskin190 thinks also.

Thank you

take a look at posting #701:

this gentleman has tons of life experience albeit poor sat scores, yet had such a compelling story that he was admitted. i would like to think that all of our applications will be evaluated with the same care and consideration.

Their thread makes ours look terrible.

Hey brother, you know I think we both have a fair shot. I would like to hope they see our military experience as brining a positive and diverse perspective to the campus.

wow, that was the most intense thread ever, you could make a soap opera out of it.
