Stanford University Transfer Fall 2010

Ouch. I didn’t realize it was 1800 characters. Well in any case, best of luck.

Well now that the application is due in less than 2 days time, we should start comparing stats and talking as these next two months fly by.

How about it?

Comparing stats will only make some people feel better and others feel discouraged. Getting to know each other as people and possible classmates is a better idea.

So…its the beginning of the end.
I say that instead of comparing stats (which will lead to severe panic attacks for many of us), we play some thread-game.

Person below me what’s your favorite food?

It is. Everything is in the mail and on it’s way there as of today. I still haven’t finished the essays even though I know they’re due in a couple of hours but pretty much the process is over and now it’s a countdown to rejection lol

Favorite food: I think it’s sushi lol

Below me, favorite movie.

Anyone else have Supplement issues? Where the character counter showed you still had a few characters but when you tried to submit it would tell you you’re over?

Very frustrating.

You should’t have intended on the paragraphs. I think that was giving me trouble at first too.

The character counter was not syncing up with the “submit” approval button. It’s alright, I doubt it’s the 21 characters I didn’t include that would be the back breaker of the application.

This thread is so unlike the UC forum, everyone seems either too anxious, afraid or apprehensive to talk about the application lol

my favorite movie is… the hangover? dont really have a favorite but thats pretty high up there

person below me, what does it feel like down there? JK

what is one thing you would want your future room mate–and us–know about you? *grin

I took the biggest gamble on that question. Temporary insanity. I don’t know. I was just so tired of spouting awesome things about myself because I genuinely don’t like doing it. So when the roommate question came along I pretty much did a self-excavation of my own flaws. Chiefly that I can be judgmental, intolerant of illogical ignorance, frustrated by bureaucracy, etc and that I’ve had clinical insomnia since 12 years old and do my best work after 2am (which I’m sure my roommate will be thrilled to hear).

Lol

Person below me: what’s your intellectually engaging and vital activity? :)

well thelongshot my intellectually engaging and vita… haha ill refrain and leave this one for the true next one.

you should try a new sleep diet, 2 hours of sleep for every four waking hours haha

Dude, I’m an insomniac, it doesn’t work and I hate pills lol

In any case, I thought I was having Common App issues on the night of the 15th so I emailed the transfer admissions counselor at Stanford that I’ve been talking to and I got this response.

"Dear Calvin,

It looks like your application was submitted. Our credentials team will be organizing all materials and determine their completeness and promptness in submission. We will let you know if there are any problems with your file and ask for your patience as we sort through the hundreds of submissions."

Hmm… hundreds of submissions sounds like an estimate to me :)

@longshot you’re lucky you got to talk to an admissions officer!haha

how important do you think the SATs are going to be in the deliberation process? cause i have less than fantastic SATs… i maintain though that I was not prepared for it since I came from a different school system. is there any concencus on how international students perform on SATs?

It depends on how far removed you are from high school. For example, I’m 5 years removed and took the SAT 6 years ago so it won’t be valued very highly but will factor in a bit.

Less than 2 months away :)

I got an email from them already, just asking me to visit some website and validate that I received the email. It was just saying that ok we got your application, we will contact you here from now on…

Same here. A little less than two months until the rejections.

This forum really shouldn’t be so dead. Stanford is the second best university in the world and third in the country (explain that one). Let’s start talking folks.

Why do you want attend Stanford? Aside from the obvious.

maybe it’s dead because we spend our time on worthwhile activities, not chatting in an internet forum with people we don’t care for about personal information.

Of course you would be from Texas.
Alright champ, go about doing important things. Bye :)

what did u guys write on the profile questions

i wanna go because of the FREEDOM. seriously haha and the beautiful campus! and the prestige :p
