Stanford University Transfer Fall 2010

Hmm I seem to have missed this thread in my lurking of CC, but I too have filed as a transfer student for this upcoming school year.

My high school records are terrible as I loathed my high school, but since going on to a community college and finding joy out of education I’ve changed drastically. I barely graduated high school due to my lack of concern and focus; however, not so much intelligence issues. By not having taken any AP courses throughout high school or any college prep classes my senior year I feel a 1620 SAT isn’t incredibly bad, yet I understand it lacks competitiveness with all the 2200+ applicants.

College on the other hand while not specifically straight A’s still a 3.5~3.7 GPA by the end of this semester which is an outcry to my past. Became active in my psychology club (my intended major) and eventually became the Vice-President. I also ended up taking a job as a tutor at the high school I once detested so much for students much like myself (URMs, 1st Generation, economically disadvantaged).

It’s as people have been saying a crapshoot for anyone with a 1~2% chance ceteris paribus when it starts getting to actual stats a part of me believes it’s an even less chance… I’m still hopeful in the end though and understand it was a big leap to even apply. I wish the rest of you the best of luck!

I just went over my supplement answers and found 4 typos. I also found one incomplete entry in the Curriculum Vitae I provided for the additional information section of the Common App. Well… that’s that I suppose lol

Good luck everyone :)

greetings,

great to make all of your acquaintances :D. i am “ghettopony” from california and i am on the same boat as a good many of you. after browsing this thread, i must say that i am very impressed with all of your individual stories. we still have a ways to go; how is everyone coping so far?

I visited Stanford today! Ah, it was as amazing as I figured.

I freaked out hard today.
It hit me at about 200 mph that I was just not going to get in – and why did I apply? I’m on spring break so I’ve got nothing to do but sit & simmer and it’s driving me cuh-razy.

i would say that out of all of my life experiences, applying to college is by far one of the most stressful and emotional. congratulations to everyone who stuck it out and put themselves through this grueling process; it’s not easy. again, i wish the best of luck to you all.

i’m a bit surprised that there aren’t as many posters on this thread. around how many applied this year you think? i wonder if they will accept around 20 transfers this year again too. sigh. haha so much going on in my mind!

Have everyone’s application materials been processed?

Nope, not even close

mine have, but that’s because i live literally 20 minutes away from campus :P

Fair enough lol

So it’s 1200 applicants and 20-30 acceptances again this year, as an admissions counselor from Stanford just confirmed.

5 more weeks until decisions.

^source :?

Hi college confidential! My first post  i also applied as a transfer student. and yes source?

i think longshot either got it from a stanford representative or from the stanford daily. i just read that “an anticipated 20 transfer students will also be accepted this year,” though i’m not sure where the 1200 figure came from.

[Admit rate drops to 7.2 percent | Stanford Daily](http://www.stanforddaily.com/2010/03/29/admit-rate-drops-to-7-2-percent/)

it really is like playing the lottery.

There are two transfer admissions counselors at Stanford, Hugo Reyes and Solomon Enos, I got this information from Solomon.

i am not applying to this school but i had to comment when you said the counselor was hugo from lost lol

That’s pretty funny actually, yeah the counselors name is Huge Centeno-Reyes. I never even thought of that lol

lol haha GL to all of you stanford people, i just ran away at the sight of the acceptance rate (or lack-thereof lol)

thanks castiel, and gl back to you in whatever it is you are pursuing.

longshot, you are our insider haha.

the days are going by and we are getting closer.

haha no problem. I’m going for cornell, haha :D

Im at NYU right now and want to leaveeee.

oh yeah? i know someone who transferred there last year and loves it. i was thinking about applying for transfer admission there this year, but realized not too long ago, that my work is not yet done here in the bay :)

how do you like it anyway? i’m assuming not much if you are opting out lol
