Stanford Update

“Home to a dysfunctional band and an idiotic tree as their mascot.” HAHA.

Hey everyone,

I got waitlisted to Stanford. Historically, I don’t know whether that means I’ll be accepted in a few weeks or rejected but as of now I am going to UCLA.

We’ll see in a couple weeks. ■■■.

It’s all about that entrepreneurship man… Everyone thinks Stanford produces all the best entrepreneurs… I swear, though, they just accept them and then when they graduate it looks like Stanford made them! haha

Go for graduate school!! :)

@thelongshot: Good Luck brah

Thanks.

Regardless I think I want to go to UCLA and stay in So Cal with my family, friends and nonprofit. But should I be accepted off the waitlist I have no idea what I’d do.

Your ecs are a match. It’s no gimme, but getting waitlisted has gotta mean something when your profile is so dead on.

Thank you. I guess we’ll see.

But 20 out of 1400 is just beyond brutal. Even Yale and Harvard, who just recently began accepting transfer students, have a higher transfer acceptance rate.

Come to Berkeley bro. My first choice was UCLA purely for the location and then I got rejected. Now, I don’t even know why I was thinking about going to UCLA. Berk is the better school. Isn’t that what we are talking about?

People say you should choose the school that best matches your personality. I applied to four UCs and I loved them all.

Dude I’ve loved Berkeley for a long time, it’s just that I don’t really like Downtown Berkeley. But I still haven’t decided yet, I figure I have another week or two to really make a decision. Did you apply this year or last year?

Yeah I’ve been on cc for a while. I just got in this month.

Congrats man, what’s your major?

Poli Sci. I love Social Sciences. I used to be an Econ major but hated Calculus II so I switched to Poli Sci.

Post stats cooldude! How did you do it?

Overall GPA: 3.62

I started JC and got a couple Cs and a bunch of Ws and dropped out. Spent a bunch of time wasting away and then came back.

Since coming back to school GPA: 3.93

The only grade, other than an A, was in Calculus I in which I got a B. So I was taking Calculus II, this Spring, about to finish up my prereqs for Economics and Calculus II was tough! I dropped that sucker and faxed Cal immediately saying I was dropping it to focus on my remaining coursework and that I would be choosing an alternate related major. The rest is history.

Living near telegraph is gonna rock. I’ll be able to get my hands on tons of reggae music and stuff.

Ah inspiring story cooldude, however, I did not read this thread and thought you got into Stanford lol. Cal is still good though.

@SF Warrior, Your stats are off the charts in terms of sat and ec’s. You didn’t list your high school GPA though. Maybe that was the deciding factor?

How did you even get to do research at Stanford when you don’t go to their school?

Just SIRed to Stanford’s Waitlist but still operating under the assumption that I’m going to UCLA… more waiting.

It never occured to me till your post, but I think my highschool grades are what got me rejected. I had a 2.9 something in highschool. Funny how these things come back to bite you in the ass.

@longshot congratulations on the waitlist. I wish I had the same luck. I guess I wasn’t entrepreneurial enough for good old Leland Stanford Junior Univ. Should have applied to MIT as well…

It wasn’t your high school grades man, but your stats are incredible. MIT/Cal Tech would have been more up your alley because they’re so statistically focused.

Dang SFwarrior25, I really look up to you now. Nice stats, dude. I’m amazed as well.

One thing, did you retake your SATs again? Because I want to, too, but my friends told me it’s useless. Can you give me perspectives on it if you did.

Off topic: The warriors are the worst team you could find. Lakers all the way!
