Stanford Vs. Berkeley in the long term?

I'm spending a disconcerting amount of time worrying and speculating about my minimal chances at Stanford admission. Meanwhile, I think it's likely (in comparison) that I'll get into Berkeley. My criterion in choosing one college over another is the question: which will provide a stronger foundation for me to make an impact on the human condition? Yes, I'm a bit of an idealist.

Currently, I'm torn between psychology, biology, and political science or international relations or something of the sort...does a Stanford graduate really have a significant advantage in the "real world" over a successful UC Berkeley graduate? Also, how much advantage do Stanford undergraduates have in graduate school admission at the nation's top colleges?

I understand this is subjective and maybe asked too often. However, I haven't seen many topics covering it.

I would say worry about college apps, get into both schools, and THEN worry about choosing between both colleges.

^^ Agreed

Don’t worry about it until after you’ve been accepted : )

Just remember…

cal sucks.

You can’t go wrong with either school if you don’t mind huge lecture classes (Berkeley)…but we’re still going to tell you that cal sucks.

but in term of cost and benefit analysis, Berkeley is the best school out there. Relativly affordable tuition and world-class education

Sound advice. Thanks everyone!
