Abronzan, remember, Cal engineers are more sought after in Silicon Valley over stanfurd engineers because of the emphasis on application that Berkeley teaches. Also, there are more girls at Cal in the engineering department, and some of them are pretty cute. I dated one bio-engineering blond girl, OMG, she was one of the hottest girls I have ever seen in my life.

Also, remember that Cal engineering is ranked #1 in the entire world. Go Bears!

ok, if anyone else is interested

of course, these are rankings (like u.s. news) and their value depends upon how important you consider rankings to be

Gutrade, are you going to Yale for sure? Because your elitist attitude makes me not want to go to Yale anymore. It sounds like you simply despise the public school known as UC Berkeley.. and see as a second tier school. Just because you don't have to pay 40 grand to go to a school doesn't mean that its a bad school.

I've lived in Berkeley for the last 12 years of my life and have taken classes there, and I've gotta say, a lot of the people I have met are indifferent to Stanford. They don't really care about Stanford or anything, they just see it as another university. As for the school being full of Stanford rejects, yes, there are some people who were rejected by the ivies and had to lean back on Berkeley, but there are also people who turned down Stanford,Yale and others to go to Berkeley. Berkeley is an amazing school, as is Stanford, and people need to get over it.

IMO both schools are among the best of the best.
It's quite natural for Cal students to hate Stanfurd and Stanford to bash Cal, since they are in close proximity.

Well anywho, since i'm in the Berkeley forums:

"F|_|CK Stanfurd"

edit:
looking at the post immediately above^, I think Yale's recent reputation has been partially stained by our brilliant leader "Dubya".

Yale created UC Berkeley. If it weren't for those Yale alums, Berkeley wouldn't have "Yale Blue" and "California Gold" as its colors.

I think Stanford was highly influenced by Cornell. Hence the color red. Funny how Yale's West Coast prodigy is getting owned by Cornell's adopted son.

collegeperson - Stanford is highly influenced by Harvard.... (Harvard Crimson). And how is UCB getting owned by Stanford? Tell that to anyone who wants to do English, History or Chemistry. Not to mention tons of other subjects. If you really think that Stanford is way superior to Berkeley... then maybe we should rename Berkelium to Stanfordium... I'm sure Stanford was the actual university to discover these new elements....

Stanford was highly influenced by Cornell, not Harvard. The first president came from Cornell and the Stanfords stopped by Cornell in order to ask advice from the people there. Of course the Stanfords also stopped by Yale, Harvard, MIT, and other unversities on the East Coast in order to see how academia is run. But the university that contributed the most to Stanford's beginning development was by far Cornell.

^ Seeing how Berkeley was originally started as the "Harvard of the West", Stanfurd cannot beat Harvard at anything.

Berkeley is the only school that can beat Harvard in two ways. First by the Berkeley faculty which is rated higher than Harvard's. And also in progressive, radical thinking, in which Berkeley has always taken the lead, and Harvard has been second to follow our lead.

The roots in the east coast have been severed a long time ago. As far as I'm concerned, if its a regional battle for superiority, then the west coast is the new age, the future of America. And California will one day be the third biggest economy in the world, ALL BY ITSELF!

I don't think Stanford ever considers itself to be the Harvard of the West. To them, that's an insult. If Berkeley wants to consider itself as the Harvard of the West, that's probably fine by Stanford.

Stanford is the Stanford of the West. They don't need external names to define who they are. Their own name beats anything else.

I really don't understand people like Collegeperson. He falls inot the same catergory as Ubermensh and Guttrade as people who don't go to either school (or any REAL school, for that matter) yet they feel like they need to jump into a rivalry that they have nothing to do with. Honestly, these people care more about it than students who actually GO to these two fine institutions. My guess is that they are just so jeolous and empty inside and they need something, anything, that will help them feel better about their pathetic lives. Anyone else have a theory? Really, I'm curious.

^ Really. I thought you guys are the Cornell of the west, according to your own words.

edit

wut the heck? they sound like republicans who are angry that Berkeley stood up for free speech in the 60's and released a report that Bush stole 300,000 votes in Florida.

Hey condor, you don't have to go to either Stanford or Berkeley in order to comment on the schools. Most people on collegeconfidential aren't even in college yet. If you're already in college and you post here, then you're a loser. Don't you have something better to do than think about college admissions? I know it's hard for you to accept the fact that you were rejected before and hence are stuck at Berkeley, but it's time for you to move on.

Yeah, you're right, college(highschool)person, you, a highschooler, have more right talking about a school you've never been to then I do, someone who actually attends that school. College admissions? No, buddy, check out the thread. There's nothing about college admissions here. And not that it matters, but I got into every school I applied to, unlike yourself, who still has home-room and recess. THe real question is why are you here? You know you wont get into Cal or Stanfurd, so why not hang out on the Chico State board for a while, get used to your future classmates. Even better, you guttrade, and uberdude can all get together and start you own thread and whine about schools that you'll obviously never get into. bye!

ugh..you guys...kill this thread pleaseeeeee...this is getting so UGLY...the competition is just for fun...they are both AWESOME schools! LET IT GO!
