Pros and Cons on each of the schools in general; each in terms of academics (engineering), social life, campus environment, people, professors, etc. Go-

Tough choice, but Stanford is generally stronger for engineering (top 5, while Columbia languishes in the 15-25 range).

Columbia is an amazing school, but for almost any kind of engineering, Stanford is just a cut above almost any institution in the country, with the exception of MIT, CIT, and possibly Berkeley.

Which school is more competitive? I want to factor in more than just rankings. Overall which school provides a better experience? My intended path is either MD (possibly MD/PhD) or MBA. Which would be better?

In other words you don't know what you want to do. Stanford is superior in most ways and you can't beat the weather. A Stanford engineering degree is much much more valuable than a columbia SEAS degree, but that's not to say SEAS is a slouch. Both schools will be competitive and the experiences will be dependent on you, not the school.

Yo Jacobian, do I know you? COSMOS Davis?

SpinDoctor,
I don't think so.......I'm from Texas.....

damn. I knew a kid with the sn jacobian...ok, nvm. Hit stanford, for schizzle.
