I didn't realize how selective the Notre Dame Honors program was, but they only have about 80 spots for the incoming class of about 2000. Stanford is definitely my number one choice, but is the program at ND worth considering? As of right now, Stanford is offering more money as well. Is anyone familiar with the ND program because it seems to involve a lot of individualized attention and opportunities. Any advice?

Stanford is offering more money? Go there, and have fun. You can get individualized attention at Stanford just as well if you make the effort to talk to professors.

The culture at these schools is so different that it's hard to imagine that you'd feel equally at home at both...have you visited either school yet?

STANFORD! .

I ask the same question as Hanna, have you visited both?

thanks for the responses everyone, yes, I have visited both. However, when I visited Stanford it was during the summer. So, I'm going to admit weekend. I recently stayed with my friend at Notre Dame over spring break and had a great time. I even went to a few of her classes and found that I could keep up just fine. Her courseload is probably different than mine will be though. I am Catholic so the religious aspect of the university is welcoming, but not a necessity. It is also less than an hour from home, and I have 2 very close friends going there. I realize that these are not reasons to truly decide where I want to be, and I know I will most likely be in sunny CA next year because who could turn that down? I guess it was just nice to have the honors program offered:)

i would have though notre dame honors would have offered you like a full ride just based on merit and getting into such a selective spot. but i say go to stanford.

Unless you feel that Notre Dame is a much better fit, I recommend Stanford. But I agree with Hanna, most people cannot be happy at both Notre Dame and Stanford...they are complete opposites!
