Stanford vs. Rice

Trying to make a decision and I am having a preety hard time.

Opinions desired.

stanford. red and white >>> dark blue.

cardinals are cooler than owls.

cali has better weather than screwstown.

way bigger campus, way more people.

wat else do u need?

For me, at least, more students is a negative aspect of Stanford. And cardinals cooler than owls? No way. To be honest, I disagree with mj on everything except for the weather.

For me, one big attraction about Rice is the residential college system. I'd suggest starting with that aspect of life at Rice and then systematically comparing the two universities to determine which campus has a better atmosphere for you.

what field do you want to study? That could help...

Engineering probably Mechanical or Electrical. I am leaning towards Stanford b/c I live in Louisiana and texas would not be much of a change in scenery and Stanford actually is cheaper than Rice. Only thing keeping me is I can run track at Rice and the Stanford coaches are ignoring my emails. Which is a preety nice plus for Rice.

I would say Stanford if you plan to major in engineering.

You can check out the information on the following: http://soe.stanford.edu/about/facts.html

If you are looking for prestige, definitely go with Stanford. If you are looking for a school with relatively few people, go with Rice. Personally, I'd pick Stanford because of costs.

if price were my main concern, then i'd come to Rice. it's a good buy.

if i had all the money in the world and had to do it all over again, i'd be undecided. nothing beats having an awesome baseball team and all these undergrad research opportunities!!! also off-campus housing + gas prices are way better in texas.
