interested in social entrepreneurship, not particularly focused on tech or finance. Wharton program is unique and great, but concerned it may be too narrow and don’t like the people as much. But am also concerned that at Stanford will just end up being one more social science student applying to business school. BTW, If you can share about Yale, let me know. Think it may be too artsy and am unsure of the business path there, but love the people and the residential colleges. Thank you.
Wharton for finance/banking but stanford has a much more entrepreneurial culture
Stanford and Yale do not have undergraduate business schools.
I’m not sure how the Wharton curriculum could be considered narrow with over 20 concentrations (some with multiple tracks/specializations) and the ability to create an individualized major.
I know they do not have undergraduate business programs but they do have classes that help you prep for business. i was asking about the strength of those classes. Essentially, how successful are pre-business students from Yale and Stanford at getting in to B school?
You don’t need any classes in particular to prep you for graduate b-school. There is really no thing as pre-business. People enter grad b-schools from many different fields. What you need for a top grad program is not any particular undergrad classes or course of study but: 1) excellent undergrad grades 2) excellent GMAT 3) minimum of two (preferably more) years of meaningful work experience and 4) excellent recommendations. If you do well at a school like Yale or Stanford and meet the other criteria listed you will have a shot at a top grad graduate b-school.
don’t go to stanford for business. there is no undergrad business degree, the closest thing you can get to it is a management science & engineering degree which is difficult. (I’m a stanford student)
