hook: yale legacy (but i love the stanford campus)

main thing is the research internship-- what Ive gained from this is enough to make up for my lack of a 4.0 and 2400 in my opinion

This year at least, Yale’s SCEA acceptance rate is expected to be greater than its RD acceptance rate by a larger margin than Stanford’s, I believe. Going by that, one would benefit more from applying to Yale SCEA. But a lot of that may have to do with the murder at Yale, which seems to have caused a decrease in apps.

you have a good shot at both places. take into account what each school can offer you- yale has the residential college program, a slightly more urban campus, from what i can gather a bit more “artsy” of a place, within driving distance to NYC/boston. stanford has a better known science department, a much more attractive campus in my opinion, and beautiful weather. ultimately you’ll get the same education wherever you go…it just comes down to the little nitpicky things that are different between the schools. i’d say if you’re REALLY on the fence, go for yale since you have a legacy and that will help you a lot in the SCEA round. this isn’t for ALL cases so i’m just thinking out loud, but chances are if you don’t get into yale SCEA with your legacy then you probs wouldn’t have gotten into stanford SCEA.

thanks for the quick replies! you’ve both helped A LOT already…
i dont think i have much of a chance at either but its nice to dream. as far as dreaming goes, academics aside (stick with me here haha), Stanford’s beautiful campus and weather are really up against Yale’s residential college system. input from yalies or… stanford people would really help here
i didnt know about the EA stats btw thanks for the update!
