Stanford Vs. Yale

Hey, I am a perspective undergraduate student who is comparing b/w Stanford and Yale.

Which school is better in terms of 1) Varsity Soccer Team, 2) Life Style (Dormitory, Dinning Service, Fitness Center, Library, Campus Atmosphere, and Cost of Living) 3) Alumni Network (particularly in Business and Politics).

I visited Stanford and loved it. Unfortunately, I am not able to visit Yale. Among the schools I visited, Stanford>USC>=Columbia>=Berkeley>=UCLA>Harvard>NYU

Someone will undoubtedly pop in and say this, so I might as well be the first: get into both first, and then decide. Chances are the decision between the two will be already made for you…

You’d think someone with the username “thegenius” who is applying to both Yale and Stanford would know the difference between “perspective” and “prospective.”

Make sure you revise your essays more than your forum posts, or you won’t have to worry about making the choice between Stanford and Yale.

^Harsh a bit? Geez. We’re all human… and way to rep Yale.

With all due seriousness, you should just wait until you get into both. Chances are, that’s not going to happen. And if you are one of the few hundred lucky individuals who get into both Stanford and Yale, you can’t really go wrong with either.

@Owlehn: Better he learn to proofread from CC than from a rejection letter.

Daaaamn. Much respect.

^Agreed.

op got burned…

I’m guessing Stanford is probably more of what you’re looking for compared to Yale based on you’re questions.

And by the way, there’s nothing wrong with comparing schools before you get in. I’m not sure why everyone thinks you can’t be asking these questions even if you aren’t accepted yet.

Sure you can be asking these questions, but it’s kind of pointless.

It’s kind of like debating whether your next car is going to be a Bentley or Rolls Royce when you’re on welfare, for the lack of a better metaphor.

OP if you’re a class of 2015 applicant, the recruiting time period for Soccer at both S and Y is essentially over, so not sure what the point is of asking that question.

I agreee that waiting till you get in to seriously compare would be a good idea, if only because scxhools treat you very differently when you actually get in than when you’re applying. That said, I can’t really speak for the other things on your list but I definitely preferred Yale to Stanford in terms of campus quality, etc. Students seemed much more vibrant at Yale, and Stanford’s dining hall was pretty dissappointing…and the lack of a central one did bother me.

I should add though, that I was not accepted to Stanford, I am basing my judgement of its campus on the 3 week summer program I was in there and as I stated earlier, their treatment of actual prefrosh may be very different.
